BREATHING

It is a given that for most of society in North America people’s daily lives are very busy, hectic, and jam packed with external activities. The idea of actually doing nothing is difficult to comprehend. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques allow you to stop, let go of ruminating thoughts and simply to focus on the present experience with acceptance and compassion. To begin the process: Make your self fully comfortable, close your eyes, put aside all worries and concerns of the day. Begin to follow the movement of the breath, breathing in slowly and deeply through the nose into the bottom of the lungs and exhale slowly through the mouth. The constant repetition will begin the process of creating a quiet mind, and the silence will decrease the internal rumination of chatter.
